Install Details: At this install we removed the existing one-piece tilt up door, the type of door that has Holmes E900 Hardware. This type of hardware and style door was very common in the southwest and most of the US prior to conventional sectional garage doors. After the tilt up door was removed, we replaced the door jambs and added a spring pad ( the piece of wood that is usually in the center of the door opening and runs vertically from header to top place) which holds all the tension of torsion springs and garage door opener bracket.

The new jambs and header also helped with installation of the New door was installed into this fresh opening along with vinyl trim because now with fresh wood we had something to attach to. New high heat resistant garage door vinyl trim (very important that high heat resistant is used here in Arizona due to warping of trim) to match the color of the door to help create a perfect outline to their new garage door and we had successfully done our part in this remodel.

Our Product Review: From an installation stand point Amarr flushed panel garage door tend to go fairly quick because there isn’t too much of the installers time spent lining up panels and exterior designs. However, this particular flushed panel garage door has 4 long panel framed, frosted, insulated glass sections that will need to be lined up so the door will be aesthetically pleasing. The new Amarr doors are all installed with conventional hardware now instead of pinch proof hardware, which does save quite a bit of time because you don’t need to cut any excess insulation out to make room for the pinch proof hardware as it needs to be inset.

From a strictly aesthetic point of view we have received lots of nice comments about how the frosted glazing is complimented by the dark brown, it really makes the door pop. Especially if you were to pair the front door with a similar modern door and side yard gate. However, the one downfall we see and hear from prospective clients is the wood grain embossment is to heavy on these doors and as the modern style trends towards smoother material with no texture. This may grow into a larger downfall in the future as woodgrain texture is pushed further out by modern trends.
