Installation Details: At this install we removed an old Clopay non insulated garage door and replaced with a new full view glass garage door. The home was made from block so door jambs had to be fastened to the block with Tapcon anchors. The spring pad ( the piece of wood that runs parallel to the door which holds all the tension of the springs) was replaced and anchored to the block as well.

Several spring pads were installed for this door’s spring system. Once the old door and wood was out we began our install of the new door by using our laser level on the opening first to find where our high spot was. We established the door would need a larger bottom seal to properly seal on the concrete. Once the opening was shot for level the bottom panel was fastened with hardware and placed in the opening and tracks were installed plum and level.

The full view glass garage door was stacked with two people, all doors of this weight and size should be a two person install. Then a 4 spring system was installed and Voila our client had a beautiful new full view glass garage door. We later made a return visit our client decided to replace the opener with a new Liftmaster to compliment the glazing on the door. 

Our Product Review: From an installation stand point Alumadoor is a great brand to work with. They have automatic warehouse where your doors will be shipped to, our company then schedules a time slot to pick up the doors, there is no waiting in lines at the supply house for your material. We can then grab our client’s door and head to install. The product it self is package with heavy duty conventional hardware and track which is great because on doors of this size and weight you cant use the 18 gauge steel hardware that comes with some doors.

These doors typically come with one or two struts to support the top section which will be getting most of the force from the opener but because the doors are made of such strong material you can mount your operator brackets directly to the frame.

We haven’t had an issue with spring engineering however, on this particular door we did have a damaged cone which was the reason we had to switch to a 4 spring system instead of 2. Other than the damage to the stationary cone the rest of the product was perfect. 

From an aesthetic point of view:

These doors are offered in: clear, dark bronze, black, and white anodized frame. Common glass options are: frosted, white laminate, clear, insulated clear, insulated frosted, and tinted.

We think our clients choice to go with black framed full view glass garage door and choice of white laminate glazing was perfect it complimented her home in Tempe, AZ greatly. The darker frame of the door really makes the lighter house color pop and the the hard lines on the home were perfect for this contemporary door. Summary:
