Installation Details: On this specific door we installed beautiful new faux wood doors on an existing client of ours. After going through a few options our client settled on this design. The deep embossment on the panels and the large size of the panels 28″ to 32″ for Amarr Classica panels were a determining factor along with the quality of the wood grain walnut exterior.
These doors to this day are still the talk of neighborhood; our client who just so happens to be a well-known designer in the Phoenix Metropolitan area picked these incredible Amarr Classica’s out and we submitted the renderings to the HOA, and the waiting began.
About a month went by and we received approval for the doors, once the doors were in arrived to our shop we immediately put these doors on the schedule for install. We removed the old Anozira Doors and began installing the new walnut trim to match the Tuscany designed walnut wood grain doors.
Then our technician’s checked the opening for level with a laser level and began to hardware the door and set the track. Specifically 15″ radius track. Why do I bring this up? Because as I mentioned earlier these style doors have very large panel heights.
Typically a residential door will have 18″- 21″ but the Amarr Classica has a much taller panels which means you need at least a 15″ radius track to for the door to move through the horizontal track without binding and causing unneeded stress to the garage door opener and to top section which will be pulled by the garage door opener.
Another popular combination would be to do a 20″ or better yet a 32″ radius track with a side mount opener like a LiftMaster Jackshaft 8500w. This opener is WiFi enabled so you can monitor your door from where ever you are, activate the open or close function, and set alerts or pair with a camera to see into the garage. A side mount is a great option when using larger radius track and for clearing up headroom with the Amarr Classica.
After our specialty track was installed the panels were than stacked and the pinch proof hardware was fastened to the door. The pinch proof hardware is discontinued now which we feel was a smart decision by the vendor for many reasons (we will get into this more in our review section).
The balancing of these doors especially important due to the unconventional panel height the doors balance points are the same however, it takes longer to get there. To finish this install off decorative hardware was then added to exterior our clients have the choice of magnetic or screwed in hardware. Now multiple neighbors have reached out to our clients asking how and who installed these beautiful doors and how they can get a beautiful Amarr Classica for their home.
Our product review: From an installation stand point Amarr doors tends to go fairly quick. The tracks is high quality there is no fighting to get the horizontal and vertical to match up because the track thickness is usually similar. Amarr does a good job of engineering springs for their doors, like we said previously in this post larger sections like this it is crucial that the door is balanced perfect.
One downside which they have already fixed is the discontinued pinch proof hardware. Being that this hardware was inset to the door any insulation in the cut out would cause they hinge to make excessive noise and impede operation. Also maintaining this hardware was nearly impossible. All in all we are happy to install this model Amarr Classica 3000.
From a strictly aesthetic point of view these doors are beautiful. The fact that since 2019 we continue to get calls about these doors and referrals based on this install alone speaks volumes about how attractive this door is.
